The proof is in the roof

When Ash and I were planning to launch Roofspec SW we decided that we needed a catchy tag line to go with our new branding. Tesco tell us that ‘Every Little Helps’, Nike encourage us to ‘Just Do It’ and British Airways are apparently the ‘World’s Favourite Airline’ or at least they were when people were allowed to go on holiday. 

So where did we get to with the Roofspec SW tagline … well that’s easy, we now just explain to people that the ‘Proof is in the Roof’.

But this tagline isn’t just a throwaway line designed to make people remember our business, we actually mean it. The proof really is in the roof on pretty much every building that you can think of.

Here’s the point. Buildings are places that we live, learn and work and without a decent roof they become a pointless structure. It’s pretty obvious to say that but if you look beyond that obvious point, roofs are wonderful pieces of engineering and an absolutely vital part of any building design.

A roof insulates and keeps heat in. It protects and keeps rain off. It finishes the aesthetics of a building creating a beautifully balanced look and feel.

Let’s take water as a starting point. A good roof is pitched perfectly to make sure that rainwater runs off the top of the building. As it hits the edge of the roof, it’s caught by a guttering system that’s attached to that roof which then controls the flow of water away from the rest of the building via a series of downpipes and a drainage system. Without this protection the building would simply get damp, deteriorate and potentially crumble away.

Some say that the combination of our leadwork and slating goes beyond craftmanship and almost touches artistry but we’ll leave that for others to comment on. What we do know is that we’re good at what we do. We’re confident enough to say that and most importantly we’re proud of the work we complete.
